July 19 -21 (North Bay Ontario)

Our home for the next couple of days is at one of Canada University (Aviation) school sites. The college rents out their dormitory rooms/kitchenettes during the summer break for approx. $40 US plus we were able to use the laundry facilities. Rental logistics have been outsourced to a business like Marriott Residence Inn for handing and payment. We weren’t as close to other services as we would have preferred but fortunately North Bay is not that large of a community. We did find a Walmart, of course! Anyway the kitchenette allows us to hang out and prep dinner ourselves.

Additionally, Jay was able to do some minor maintenance on the bikes; add oil, tire pressure, tighten a few nuts & bolts.

While here we toured a small air museum located on the North Bay Canadian Forces Airbase. The airbase at North Bay is part of NORAD and still plays an important part in strategic air defense for North America. Our guide for the next hour is a Staff Sgt in the U.S. Air Force whose duty station is with the Canadians for the next two years as part of an exchange program. This nice guy originally hailed from Georgia and was a hoot to visit with and he liked to talk. Since it’s an active airbase our pics are limited to primarily the museum and a couple of statues along the driveway on the way off the base.
